Nesting Baby Shower Ideas

Thursday, March 21

Hey Everyone, I hope you're having a fabulous week so far and enjoying the first few days of spring! Even though its still very cold over here in the east coast.. the fact that the days are just a bit longer and brighter has me completely enthused for spring.

Whose with me on that?

So today we're guest posting over at Pretty My Party and sharing a Nesting Inspired post in honor of spring finally being here and in hopes to help any of you planning a baby shower. If you know someone who is a newly minted host and is clueless to the process - share this read with them! They will love you for the bit of help and inspiration..
Dont forget to tell me what you think in the comments below and any ideas you might have. The more the merrier!

Nesting Spring Baby Shower Ideas

Spring is nature’s way of celebrating new life and new beginnings.
The air gets crisper and the blooms all signal to it, bringing about a feeling of hope and warmth in everyone – especially expectant parents!

So its really no surprise that spring is one of the most popular times to host baby showers (hey including when I hosted mine!), because its really one of those idyllic times to celebrate the soon arrival of a gorgeous, precious new baby.
Here are a few ways to do just that with an organic, soft, and effortlessly elegant flair.

1. Craft a sweet and timeless “Nest” word backdrop for the dessert table, great for the baby’s nursery or the couple’s home décor after.. via Susan Gentile Photography .

2. Send a soft and elegant robin’s egg baby shower invitation like this one from Tiny Prints
where the rustic organic texture of the nest - takes center stage.

3. Top a simple butter cream cake with a sweet hand-made bird cake topper like this one from Lilly Bon Bon, if you’re in a bit of hurry, or just want a showstopper topper.

4. Decorate the table with natural looking bird’s nests lined up in a row, with pretty ivory petals or faux painted eggs.. via Baby Lifestyles Magazine

5. Serve a gorgeous speckled egg cake like this one from The Cake Blog , to really make something unique and with loads of natural texture.

6. Gift the mom-to-be a lovely nest ring for the shower or have dad gift it as a push present for her to wear on the big day, by Kara Jewelry.

7. Make these sugary nest bowls to serve fluffy white chocolate mousse next to the cake, via Sprinkle Bakes.

8. Add a beautiful plaque for the entry way with a touching quote about children or parent-hood, from M Bart Studios.

9. Make a gorgeous moss garland to hang over the dining table as a chandelier.

How would you celebrate the arrival of spring baby?!

Unexpected & Unique Valentine’s Day Baby Shower Gifts

Wednesday, January 23
Today's post is a follow up  to the Valentine’s Day inspired Baby Be Mine post we did a few weeks ago on PMP. I hope this gets you started and thinking about what to give for any showers you're hosting or attending!

Now that you have the décor and party planning all set, here are a few ways to make sure your gift is equally spectacular and in cue with the Valentine’s Day theme. These are also great suggestions to share with guests and family who might be asking you: What should I get them?!
Although I always recommend gifting from the mom’s designated baby gift registry, if you’re not too keen on giving the typical baby shower gift – here are a few ways to compliment or add an additional gift that can make your gift more thoughtful. It’s also not uncommon – for all of the gifts in the registry to be “taken up” especially if the guest list is large or many family members are attending.
Idea #1: Give a Gift That Shows How Much You Love Baby
When in doubt, stick to a gift that’s practical and useful for the baby – whether its something they can personally use, or something to beautify the nursery. The #1 priority of the shower is the baby.
1. Let Me Count the Ways, Me and Him Blog 2. Two Birds and a <3 Onesie, Eleventyfive 3. Ruffle Baby Legwarmers, Layla Grace 4. Counting Kisses by Karen Katz 5. Heart Mobile via One Thrifty Girl 6. Live Love Pillow by Anthropologie

Valentinesdaybabyshowergiftideasforbabyandnursery_valentinesdaybabyshowerideas_thepetitesoiree_prettymyparty
(1) For instance, I absolutely love this hand-screened onesie with two adorable vintage birds for baby to sport under their ensemble or to lounge in at home.
(2) If you know mom is expecting a girl – give her these ruffled legwarmers perfect for winter weather, and to help ease the traction when baby begins crawling.
(3) Help stock the baby library with great and “loving” reads like Counting Kisses by Karen Katz and Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney, perfect for newborn and toddler story time.
Add a few books in different age ranges (newborn, toddler, preschooler) and the parents will appreciate that the nursery will be set with reads while baby grows.
(4) Make or give a lovely handmade mobile with sweet hanging hearts and neutral burlap – great with any theme.
(5) Help decorate rocking chair or seating area – with this lovely & uber chic, Live Love pillow. It’ll be beautiful in so many other places in the house long after baby has outgrown it.
Idea #2 : Give What You Know

valentinesdaybabyshowergiftideas_valentinesdaymomhospitalbag_valentinesdayinspiredbabyshower_whatyoushouldhaveinyourhospitalbag_thepetitesoiree_prettymyparty
1. Arrow Baby Bag by Eleventyfive 2. Athropologie Charmed Hair Ties 3. Cross Your Heart Throw Blanket by Land of Nod 4. Juke Box Lip Salve 5. Baby Daze
If you’re an experienced mom gifting to a first time mom, share what you know with them and what you’ve learned in the process. There’s no price tag to this kind of insight and thought – since it really can’t be bought!

Trident Inspired: About to Pop Gender Reveal Baby Shower

Monday, September 24

Inspired by the updated + retro 70s vibe of Trident's new branding campaign..

( See What Unfolds )
I quickly got to work on it, and here it is! A Modern Trident Inspired About to Pop Baby Shower theme.

I hope you enjoy this spur-of-the-moment styled shoot, and really hope it also helps to spark your creativity + urge to try something new at your next event.

I really wanted the table to look modern + bold, with a hint of retro. I commissioned the help of graphic designer + fellow party friend Keisha Silbert of Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams to create a bold and very Andy Warhol-ian art poster and confetti popper. What's best the art poster can live on in the expecting couple's living room.

To keep the modern vibe going I kept the layout clean without clutter. I used 2 tall black pillars in a mod style where I propped up 2 gender reveal cakes to eat depending on what the gender is (green if its a girl, orange if its a boy).
You can also have your baker add a girl or boy inspired trinket inside for a fun and unexpected surprise when they cut the cake..

The green shade of this Jone's "green apple soda" was the perfect shade and had the perfect image of a boy riding a dirt bike which I think went perfectly with the modern vibe.

Using simple bubble containers, and hair twisty ties - I attached pipe cleaner wand.

Male and Female Symbols on real slate slabs using chalk.

On the other side of the table I added some bright orange + white lollipops, and confetti poppers that guests could hypothetically "unpop" to reveal the baby's gender.

For the middle of the table, I decided to go with packets of Trident Layers Peach Mango since they are party of their new line of "dessert"  flavored gums. Other yummy kinds are:  Layers Wild Strawberry +
Tangy Citrus and Layers Juicy Berry + Tangy Tangerine.
Since these are sweet vs. fresh I they make the perfect addition to a dessert buffet.

I added a few more "pop" inspired items like popcorn, and pop tarts to keep the theme going.

Trident White is a great option for guests who want a refreshing "minty" kid of gum, that I served here simply in a white porcelain bowl with a hand dyed wooden spoon.

I also  made a "G" and "B" (for boy/girl) on each side of the table using regular Trident Gum, and could also be used to quickly decorate a cake with a name or a funky pattern...

I added a few yellow, round, craspedia blooms since they looked so incredibly beautiful, + understated.

To finish off the table, I added donuts pops with colorful picks, and yummy mango filled cupcakes with dulce de leche buttercream.

So, what do you think .. is gum a practical dessert option? Do you have any other creative ways to use it?
We'd love to hear! For more Trident inspired gum inspiration vis our pinboard.

A HUGE Thank you to Photo by Roma for photographing everything perfectly, and Keisha of Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams for helping me to create the perfect graphics for this party. Thank you!

A Classically Chic Humpty Dumpty Baby Shower

Tuesday, May 22
"Humpty Dumpty Sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great Ball,
All of the kings horses + all of the kings men couldn't believe he didn't fall again!"

I absolutely love this theme for a rustic yet chic baby shower or sip and see. When I first thought about the theme I loved the idea of soft moss greens with other warm tones like yellow, and slate blue. I also think this would make excellent transitional party-to-room decor, for a child who loves late night nursery rhyme singing or story telling.

After a few months of planning and many hiccups along the way - I'm so excited to finally share with you our latest styled dessert table, A Classically Chic Humpty Dumpty Children's Party.  This theme is perfectly on time for the summer soiree-ing you're all gearing up for because of the casual natural elements and bright whimsical colors. I'm also so happy to share that its been featured over at Babble's Top 25 Springtime Baby Shower Themes for Boys.

So what do you think?
Have you FALL-en in love with humpty all over again?
I'm sure your child will too!

Thank you so much to all of the amazing vendors who contributed their time + talents to make this shoot possible.
